Finding the right formal trouser size in India is harder than it should be. International sizing charts don't account for Indian body proportions, mall brands run inconsistently, and ordering online means you can't try before you buy.
This guide covers everything you need — so you get the right fit the first time.
Why Indian Sizing Differs from International Brands
Indian men typically have a fuller thigh and hip profile relative to their waist compared to European or American body types. Most international brands are cut for Western proportions — which is why a "32" from a European brand often feels tight in the thighs even if the waist fits.
Right2Fit trousers are cut specifically for Indian body proportions: a slightly roomier thigh and seat, with a clean line at the waist that doesn't require a belt to stay in place.
How to Measure Your Waist at Home
You need a soft measuring tape. No tape? A string + ruler works.
- Stand naturally — don't suck in or push out
- Find your natural waistline — about 1 inch above your belly button, or at the narrowest point of your torso
- Wrap the tape horizontally — keep it snug but not tight (you should be able to slip one finger underneath)
- Read the measurement in inches — round up to the nearest even number
Example: 31.5 inches → order size 32
How to Measure Your Hip
Stand with feet together. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips (usually 7–9 inches below your waist). The tape should be parallel to the floor. This is your hip measurement.

5 Common Fit Mistakes (and How to Avoid Them)
1. Measuring over thick clothing
Always measure directly on skin or over lightweight innerwear. A thick waistband adds 0.5–1 inch to your measurement.
2. Choosing "comfortable" size over waist size
If your waist is 31 but 34 "feels more comfortable," you'll end up with a trouser that sags at the seat and bunches at the waist. Order your actual size — our fabric has stretch built in.
3. Ignoring the hip measurement
If your hips run wider relative to your waist, use the hip measurement to guide your size. Better a slightly looser waist (easily adjusted with a belt) than a tight seat.
4. Not accounting for stretch fabric
Right2Fit's 4-way stretch means the trouser will expand with your body. Don't size up to "make room for movement" — the fabric handles that automatically.
5. Forgetting that trouser waists stretch slightly after a few wears
New trousers feel slightly snug — this is normal. They relax 0.5–1 inch at the waist over the first 2–3 wears.
